Autumn Season & Feng Shui

" A glorious time of both abundance and release". Sherry Brouzes

“Notice that autumn is more the season of the soul than of nature.” — Friedrich Nietzsche

I took my dog for a walk recently on a beautiful nature trail in the Niagara area where I reside. The foliage is turning brown and yellow and some of the large maple trees have hints of red.

It is that time of year again when mankind harvests the earth's bounty while nature teaches us that is a time of release and letting go. It is Autumn time. We will soon see nature as it explodes with its beauty of colours.

Feng Shui is the study of the keeping your environment in balance while it is constantly in flux. This time of year is a true example of the principles of"Yin" and "Yang" in Feng Shui. The darker and cooler days (Yin) versus the brilliance as the warm autumn sun glowing on the brilliant colours of gold and reds in nature (Yang).

Why don't we try to emulate the autumn season? We can strive to have balance and harmony in our own lives.

Many of us keep too much "stuff" and don't let go of things we no longer require. The "stuff" just keeps adding up and we start to feel overwhelmed and unsettled in our lives.

Clutter sneaks up on us like an insidious little creature until we start to feel anxious in our homes and need to "release" the no longer needed items whether be it physical items or the emotional clutter in our own minds.

This can be a very uplifting and cleansing time of year for people. We have awhile before the Holiday season is upon us to reflect on what we really need. We can become energized by "harvesting" what we need and "letting go" of things that are like an anchor that prevents us from living our best life.

Make a list of what you really need and do not need in your home and life. Take the whole month of October to shed what you don't need anymore. The feeling of releasing old "stuff" is freedom ! I am sure that is the way a tree must feel in the fall when she shows us how letting go can be so beautiful.

"Make a list of what to keep and what to release"

For a space to have healthy Feng Shui it is imperative to have the Balance of Yin and Yang as Autumn shows us every year.

Happy Autumn and I hope you shine as bright as the colours of this magnificent season !!

"Balance is the key factor in Feng Shui just as Autumn shows her balance in nature"
